Draft records, 1888-1919.

This record group consists of three sets of records relating to the draft and the Michigan militia. The first set of records is a list of dishonorable discharges of men in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Infantry, and 1st Independent Battalion (1899-1905), showing name, company and regiment, date of discharge and cause. The second set of records is a roster of boards of registration draftees (1917-1919). The roster lists the names of citizens comprising registration boards in Michigan counties and cities and includes amount paid to boards and clerks, amounts paid for supplies, medical examinations, rent and travel. The third set of records is a roster of names and post office addresses of soldiers residing in Michigan (1888) and includes information such as name, rank, company served, post office address in 1888, and occasionally dates of death are written in.
